Students select library books from a wide range of levels and topics that are on
the AR list. Upon completion of the book, the children take a test on a computer
that asks them specific questions about the book. PTA volunteers
help P2
and P3 (first and second grades) students take the tests, as well updating student point totals and printing out teacher reports.
After the
students reach certain point levels, they earn "Book Bucks" that they
can spend at the "Book Nook" for a new or gently used book.
All classes
with 100% participation in the program will earn a popcorn party and the
4 classes with the highest point totals at the end of the year earn an
ice cream party!
Any gently used books that are age
appropriate for 1st through 5th grades can be donated for the "Book
Nook" for students to spend their "Book Bucks" on. Please bring
donated books in to the front office marked “Accelerated Reader
Donation."
