The Commonwealth Accountability Testing System (CATS) is designed to improve teaching and student learning in Kentucky. CATS includes the Kentucky Core Content Test, writing portfolios and prompts, alternate assessments for students with severe to profound disabilities, the ACT, PLAN and nonacademic components.

The Commonwealth Accountability Testing System generates a wealth of data on the performance of schools and districts throughout Kentucky. These data, supplemented by analysis and background information, inform the public on the status of educational reform at all levels. Other reports such as technical manuals and interpretive guides offer information on all of the components of CATS and their significance.   For more info visit the KY Dept. of Education web site
