Punctuality is imperative! The first twenty minutes and the last twenty minutes of the day are among the most important. Work and assignments for the day are given during the first twenty minutes. Homework assignments and evaluation of the day’s work are completed during the last twenty minutes. Please help your child to understand the importance of punctuality - one of life’s lessons that will last a lifetime.

  Bus Riders:
Middletown has approximately ten buses serving the student population. Each will be identified by its number. Students and parents should learn the bus number as soon as possible. Students should ride the bus the first day of school, if the bus will be the mode of transportation used most often. If you have questions about the bus schedule go to http://www.jefferson.kyschools.us/Departments/BusRoute1.html or call 485-3470.

Car Poolers:
• Where do I pick up my Child?

Car PoolersKindergarteners and 1st Graders will exit through the doors on the Kindergarten and 1st Grade wing and can be picked up on the South side of the school (off Old Harrods Creek Road).
2nd through 5th graders will exit through the doors on the Intermediate wing and can be picked up on the North side of the School (off of Madison Ave).
Walkers exit through the doors on the grade three wing on the North West side of the  School (near the ball fields and playground).
The pickup location and route is marked on the map below:

• When do I get a Car Pool Number?
Parents can pick up a car pool number when picking up their kids at the end of the first day of school. We will have instructional assistants giving out car pool numbers at both car pool lines (the north and south side of school). The assistants will record your name and give you a number.

• When do I pick up my child?
At dismissal time, 3:45 p.m. and no later than 3:50 p.m.  At 3:50 p.m. any remaining children will be taken to the office and the parent/guardian must come inside to pick them up.

• How does the carpool line work?
Parents are asked to drop off their children between 8:45 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.  Students arriving between 8:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. will be confined to the lunchroom.  (Before-school care is available from 7:00 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. through the YMCA’s Childcare Enrichment Program [C.E.P.]).

Dismissal is at 3:45 p.m.  Parents are asked to display carpool numbers (distributed early in the school year) to help teachers locate each student’s vehicle.  All day-care vans must pick up and drop off kids through the carpool line as well.

Buses only come into the front circle.  This applies in the morning and in the afternoon.  Violators could be ticketed.

Please stay in your car when picking up your child in the carpool line.  Students must follow the directions of the carpool monitors.

Inclement Weather:
School may be dismissed early/or even a bit late at times due to inclement weather. Each and every child’s safety is our most important concern. To ensure optimum safety, maintain a calming environment, and to provide an efficient dismissal on these days, we request that your child remain at school - if at all possible - until we receive the “all clear” from the weather bureau. We want to keep visitor traffic in the building, during this time, to a minimum.

Changes in Transportation:
f your child's transportation changes, you must provide written notification or call the school office (485-8300) prior to the beginning of the day. We will not alter your child’s transportation unless we receive notification from you prior to the requested change. If the need should occur for an early dismissal, please enter the office and sign your child out. No child will ever be released to a parent at the classroom door. Office personnel will authorize the teacher to send your child to the office. Adults must have their name on the Student Enrollment Form as approved by the parent/guardian to pick up a child.  For the safety of students, the adult must be ready to show identification.  Should you need to bring any forgotten items to your child, bring them to the school office and we will ensure delivery to his/her classroom. Adherence to this procedure eliminates many disruptions to the instructional process.
